This is a senior leadership position with full responsibility for all aspects of the financial operations of the Company and a number of other UK based subsidiaries of the MSC Cruises group. Reporting locally to the President and Managing Director, with an indirect reporting line to the MSC Cruises SA group Chief Financial Officer in Switzerland, this role encompasses oversight of financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, treasury, taxation and corporate governance, as well as playing a leadership role for the local and overseas finance teams, as well as being part of the group finance leadership team. Beyond the finance remit the CFO will play a key role in supporting the overall operations of MSCCM, working with the President / Managing Director and other senior managers to help the company, and the wider group, achieve strategic objectives. Initially the post holder will also have a leading role in contributing to a number of major systems changes including an anticipated SAP implementation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
•Executive responsibility for all finance matters in UK (accounting, reporting, budgeting, controlling, systems, processes, cash management and treasury)
•Ensuring all local and group monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes/deadlines are met including relevant UK statutory financial reporting.
•Oversight of all UK tax matters including fulfilling role Senior Accounting Officer for HMRC purposes (responsible for all taxes (corporate, indirect, employee etc), tonnage tax compliance, liaison with other UK based MSC subsidiaries, both cruise and cargo)
•Review of business cases for investments, and post investment analysis.
•Responsible for ensuring board processes are operating to support operations under UK tonnage tax (both for the company and other UK based subsidiaries)
•Engagement in the process of cost control / financial oversight for vessels under construction, including “owners’ supplies”
•Responsible for all finance related governance matters, feeding into MSC Cruises group processes as appropriate
•Responsible for ensuring all other relevant UK statutory reporting requirements are met (eg payment reporting, various ONS returns)
•Part of MSC Cruises SA group senior finance team and linking to the UK where relevant (eg re significant investments, projects, financing, risk management, corporate structuring, systems, etc )
•Managing the UK finance team and oversight of finance teams and arrangements in Italy and Malta
•Executive member of MSCCM operational management and key support for the President / Managing Director
•Supporting the promotion of the MSC Cruises group in the UK, in its engagement with the authorities, UK Chamber of Shipping, government and regulatory bodies, London Chamber of Commerce etc as appropriate
•Demonstrable leadership skills, in a finance role and ideally beyond
•Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
•Self-motivated and an ability to work as part of a team
•Significant experience with financial planning, analysis and control
•Strong analytic and interpretive skills
•An ability to work to and meet deadlines
•Organisational and leadership skills
•Project management skills
•Knowledge of IFRS
Personal profile
•Likely a qualified accountant, (e.g. CIMA/ACA) with considerable post qualification experience
•Culturally aware with emotional intelligence, resilience and able to operate effectively in an international environment
•Able to operate in a complex, fast moving and dynamic environment and able to adapt to changing circumstances
•Experience leading a finance function
•Experience with systems implementations
•Attention to detail but also able to step back and take a strategic view
•Knowledge of shipping / engineering / hotel operations beneficial, with knowledge of the cruise industry a very strong advantage
•Knowledge of Italian is helpful but not a prerequisite
•Preferably a previous role of board member for a UK company
