Hackney Council is passionate about its housing stock, and committed to continue to maintain and enhance its homes and estates in both the short term and into the future. The guiding principles for investment are defined in the Council’s new Housing Asset Management Strategy . This document also sets the ambitions for the quality of our varied housing stock, ranging from Victorian street properties and pre-war mansion blocks to tower blocks on large estates. Our Property and Asset Management service is changing to enable the team to achieve the delivery of the capital programmes necessary to achieve the ambitions set in the strategy. We are looking for Capital Delivery Project Managers to lead on capital maintenance projects typically ranging in value from £250k to £3m. This is a demanding role and yet it comes with the opportunity to influence and work within a large team of multi-disciplined professionals to deliver a high quality service. With several contracts and contractors in place this needs sound and reliable project management from experienced and robust project managers that seek to consistently deliver outstanding results.
Reporting directly to their dedicated Contract Delivery Manager, our Project Managers are key to the delivery of multi-million pound programmes of planned works all across the Borough. The range and breadth of the activity will be extensive and challenging. Directly Managing principal contractors (delivery teams), liaising with Clerk of works, designers, and various other departments with the Borough, as well as engaging with our Residents and dealing with complaints, will be essential, as will be the strict control of our contractual terms and their adherence. We seek highly competent and engaging Managers that understand various forms of project management and differing delivery models that ensure we achieve work delivery and best value.
You will have a relevant degree level qualification and/or extensive experience of refurbishment projects within housing in addition to experience in leading on programme/cost management of large scale housing capital projects/ programmes either from the Client or from the construction professional aspect, including experience of ‘design and build’ constructors. A professional qualification in Project Management or evidence of continuing professional development is desirable.
Excellent communication skills are essential for this post, as you will need the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice.
